Wales: the land of floating circles
This is the new logo for Cardiff. It cost £45,000.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no. No.
This does not say Cardiff. It does not evoke images of the city’s history, its castle or attractions. It has no sense of the national pride of the Welsh, or indeed any humanity whatsoever. It just does nothing, slipping out of the mind faster than a greased ferret down a teflon pipe. This is the logo of a low-grade technology park, a cheap paint manufacturer or a doomed-to-failure eBay clone.
I’m not even the slightest bit Welsh, but I feel embarrassment for anyone in Cardiff who is going to have to accept this as a representation of their city.

Aah - corporate claptrap at its best. It seems very familiar - reminds me of some aspects of the BT rebranding a few years ago.

Yes, it’s so sad that this sort of rubbish gets through. And the circles are like a rotary telephone dial too so I can see the BT link there.
I can understand the desire to modernise, for trade and economic purposes, but this is just soulless. The Wales Tourist Board’s logo gives a much better example of a modern take on historic symbology - see it at http://www.travelwales.org/
Now that’s much classier.
